Rock Creek School is a learning environment that specializes in providing educational programming for students with various physical, emotional, and learning disabilities. The school is located in Walkersville, Maryland, a suburb of the Washington, DC metro area.  The school educates children ages 3 to 21 and provides both learning and a strong sense of community to its students and their families.

Recently the school made a move from the nearby town of Frederick to its new Walkersville location resulting in new play equipment and a recreational area for students and staff. All Recreation was thrilled to be a part of this project and bring play, movement, and recreation to a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility.

The project features playground equipment, site amenities, shelters, and unitary surfacing. The playground equipment is from BCI Burke and includes ramps to make the play structure accessible to all levels of mobility. Other inclusive events are the Freedom inclusive Swing seat and the Cruiser™, a large rocker that can accommodate several wheelchairs, allowing children of all abilities the opportunity to play together. Beneath the playground and throughout the entire play area, there is EPDM pour-in-place rubber as the unitary surfacing. This is an excellent surfacing choice for those with mobility issues as it provides fall protection as well as a smooth surface for any type of wheels. Several shelters and site amenities including benches and tables round out the space and provide more recreational opportunities for the school community.

All Recreation is always thankful to bring accessible play and movement to ALL kids.
