The playground at Rio is part of a large refresh and redevelopment project at this premier shopping, dining and recreation destination in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Gaithersburg is in Montgomery County and just a few short miles from Washington, DC. Rio has many lakefront attractions bringing recreational activities to the outdoor experience. In addition to the playground, they offer a carousel, paddle boats, a picnic area and walking trails. The playground is nestled between trees and the waterfront and offers beautiful views, vibrant colors, accessible play features and shade covering. A few of our favorite features on the new playground include the ramps and unitary surfacing which ensure that everyone can access play no matter what their level of mobility. There are many ground level activities that are also accessible to everyone including musical instruments and exciting panels that turn posts into play. The playground also features the Rev8, an instant attraction for kids because there is so much to do on it – climb, spin, push, sit and engage with others.
