It is a big deal for students when a school gets a new playground.  Harford Heights Elementary in Baltimore, Maryland is undergoing a renovation and addition that includes a new playground for the school community. The recently completed playground has two custom structures for ages 2-5 and 5-12. The 2-5 structure is perfectly sized for younger users and includes multiple climbing events and adjacent spinning and balancing events. The design of the 5-12 structure is an innovative combination of a traditional post and platform structure and fitness inspired play equipment. From the structure kids can climb, balance and move through the connected events. Harford Heights Elementary chose unitary safety surfacing for the two playground areas. The pour-in-place rubber surfacing provides many benefits including excellent fall protection, meeting accessibility standards and easy maintenance. With a focus on movement, this playground will hopefully inspire healthy play and development for years to come at Harford Heights Elementary School.
